Mimics are very fascinating creatures, living in families of abandon buildings or underground structures. They have a very basic hierarchy where the oldest and largest are kings of the group. Their life styles are similar to hermit crabs, as they grow and consume they require larger and larger “shells” to live in. It’s common to find a family in a long abandoned home living in different sized containers, jewelry boxes for the younglings, chests and cabinets for the larger ones. However as family members move out to create new families they search for interesting locations, but mostly for containers of interest to provide the most prey such as chests. Those who live in the more glamorous chests tend to attract the most attention, and there for the most food.
Just some lovely Elk I saw on my way home from work, one early morning.
